I was recently a guest on a fantastic podcast called "Up All Night - A Horror Anthology Podcast" and I thought now might be a good time to share some thoughts about the show and its hosts as I was honored to be on their show! You can find and listen to the podcast, here!
The show is hosted by Brandon and Courtland, two 30-something guys who met in middle school which I think just adds to the sincerity and rapport of the two. On each episode, they take a look at a horror anthology tv show (sometimes based on a book or comic) that typically aired in the 1990s, i.e. Are You Afraid of the Dark, Goosebumps, and Tales from the Crypt. One of the most telling aspects of their show is even if you are not big into horror or don't remember a lot about these shows, their commentary about the shows is hilarious and easy to listen to. You sort of feel like you are hanging out and chatting with some of your old friends. I never got into Tales from the Crypt all that much but the way they look back on the show's episodes is so engaging that I find myself listening to their shows (not just the one I was a guest on) and I have already viewed a few episodes of Tales from the Crypt decades after it was originally on TV because of their podcast. They sort of walk you through - scene by scene of whichever show they are reviewing which is a unique approach not typically found on podcasts. One of my favorite past times is watching HGTV with my mom so we can make fun of all of the silly couples on House Hunters and Courtland and Brandon's method of poking fun at TV characters on horror anthology shows is equally hysterical. Needless to say, I was in good company.
The episode I appeared on was to discuss an episode of Tales from the Crypt - Season 1, Episode 6 - "Collection Completed." Spoiler alert: this episode of Tales from the Crypt was about a recently retired husband and his animal-crazy wife. They both sort of reach their patience level with each other and both result in some pretty insane antics to get back at one another. I'll just leave it at that! Here are some hints though- taxidermy, Mew-Mew, gold hammer, robotic dog eyes, mall-walking tracksuit and Roy. And, you're welcome!
"Up All Night" is a truly wonderful podcast. And I really mean that. I only support and will be a guest on shows that I know put out solid content that aligns with what is important to me as a podcaster. They do so much for their listeners above and beyond just the show. From watch parties to bonus content to giveaways, these two guys are really devoted to what they do and it shows. If you ever find yourself looking for something new to listen to, check out the Up All Night Podcast!
PS - I am incredibly grateful for all of the wonderful people I have met as a result of my podcast. The hosts of this show are definitely a part of my gratitude and this podcast journey.
